How styled text works
LinkedIn has no bold or italic option for posts. The site creates the look with Unicode letters from the mathematical alphanumeric range. Because they are different characters:
- they can look different, or show as empty boxes, on some devices and fonts;
- LinkedIn search and search engines do not match them to normal words;
- screen readers may read them letter by letter or skip them;
- most styled letters count as two characters towards LinkedIn’s limits.
Use styling for emphasis, and keep names, job titles, skills and hashtags in plain text.
Limits and the fold are estimates
LinkedIn documents a 3,000-character limit for posts. Other limits on the site, and the position of “…see more” in the preview, are approximate and can change with LinkedIn’s design, your screen width and your device.
No promise of results
